Parents for a Label and Drug Free Education have received hundreds of emails from parents across the country who have been forced or coerced to drug their children by school personnel. This reflects a nationwide problem facing parents today. This widespread problem has prompted many states to pass legislation reinforcing a parent's right to refuse drug treatment, and prohibiting school personnel from pressuring parents to place their children on psychotropic drugs. In 2003, 15 states have introduced similar laws, and a federal bill has been introduced in Congress in order to curb this abuse of parental rights.
However, certain pharmaceutically funded pro-mental health groups, are claiming that only a "handful" of such incidents have occurred, in an attempt to undermine the severity of the situation, discredit the hundreds, if not thousands of us who have personally experienced this abuse. We therefore ask all parents who have written to us, and who have personally experienced schools pressuring or coercing you to place your child on psychotropic drugs to sign your name to this list.
